Unlike the BIG N, SONY at least made a compelling press-con. Not as stunning as MS. I really hate MS winning the battle of the press-conferences but nonetheless all theyre improvements are better than Nintendo’s bomb of a press-conference.

LITTLE BIG PLANET coming in October.

Yes, Sack boy is coming to the PS3 in 3 months. LBP as they dub it is going to make 2D games fully customizable as all users can go and make a stage of their own in a sandbox style environment. Just think of it as designing your own Super Mario game. The 2d one of course. Not to mention all stages are fully shareable to other LBP users.

RESISTANCE 2 demo.

Its very pretty. The FPS that launched with the PS3 is back. This time its battling a huge/ginormous cloverfield-esque monster on its own. This thing is huge!!!

PSN’s arsenal of downloadable games and videos

The best part of the content of the whole presentation came in from the PSN games. These are essentially downloadable games for the PS3 short, addicting, and cheap. These are games like PixelJunk Eden, FAT Princess, PAIN, and Flower. All in all they are quite quirky and pretty much I wanna play it games.

MORE PSP GAMES COMING

I can say that lots of stuff is coming to the PSP. No there is no PSPhone yet but at least the library is getting bigger with RESISTANCE leading the charge and PSN games coming in like STARDUST. Cheers to more good games.

This is still in the pipeline but I like the whole comment about the PS3 being the only one that can battle like this. MAG will fit 256 players duking it out online.

I am indeed a scorned fanboy because I have both systems to boot with.

Let’s start with the big N’s press-conference, I came to an impression that since Nintendo has been focussing on fam-oriented games that all of it will change come press-con time. Everybody was expecting something the hardcore N fans will enjoy. But here is what we get…

ANIMAL CROSSING Wii Announced with Wii Speak Peripheral.

Yes the SIM-ish anime looking peeps are back with anothe instalment for the Wii. This time everything will be networked and they introduced a new function called Wii Speak, which is a microphone that acts as the room’s  speaker phone for everybody. This is not hardcore.

Wii Sports Resort and Wii MotionPlus attachment

Nintendo guys are really resting on their laurels when the 2nd big announcement hit. They have a peripheral coming Spring 2009 called the Wii Motion Plus. Its basically an add-on to the base of your Wii-mote to detect better movement rather than just relying on your IR bar. I give it to them. It does make movement fluid but with only one game (Sports Resort) in the horizon. This does not cut it. This is not hardcore.

Then when everything else sucked BIG TIME in the Big N’s press-con, I thought a glimmer of light appeared because Shigeru Miyamoto appeared. Perhaps to announce a new Mario game. A new Zelda? Metroid? oooh Metroid???

Nope he ended up playing the saxophone in front of the stage while moving the Wii-mote. Oh yeah and that Indian spiky haired drummer using the wiimote and balance board as nun-chuks as a drum-set, not cool!!!

Then they had all these employees play as a band to the tune of Mario. WTF were you thinking Nintendo?

After this is over… I have lost faith in Nintendo. I can finally say for the first time as a japanese gaming fanboy and all that YOU SUCK!!!

In the Movies EyeToy-like demo

I still cannot find a YouTube video but as soon as I can this will air. MS employees demoing scratch that making fools of themselves with their new IN THE MOVIES game. Its better to watch than to describe.

HIGH POINTS of the SHOW: 

7. GALAGA is BACK 

Remember our little FAMICOM/NES days, when we had the big three games upons starting it (Mario, PACMAN, and GALAGA). Now the 1st too had already have revamp iterations to their originals. Enter Galaga, a 3d-ish revamp of the 2d shooter. It looks cool. It actually looks great and has the whole old interface working out well.

6. FALLOUT 3 GEARS 2 RE 5 FABLE 2  dates announced

Games keep flowing in MS doorstep as they ushered in their holiday/spring line-up. They also showed demos to the RE5 which will feature online co-op gameplay. For the RPG fanatics, Fable 2 will be released this October and Gears 2 to follow shortly after that.

5. LIPS to feature Zune compatibility 

Casual games are making a big hit thanks to the Wii. MS has announced LIPS a karaoke game for the XBOX. Lips will feature a motion sensitive wireless microphone. The most impressive part about the game is importing songs from your iPOD and ZUNE systems. LIPS will be released this December.  

4. NETFLIX is coming to XBOX 

MS has been in the movie service business for more than a year now. Welcome theire newest partner, NETFLIX. The XBOX will now stream all instant content from the instant queue to all NETFLIX subscribers. Still awaiting for SONY to fire back.

3. the new Microsoft Live Interface 

XBOX will ahave a new interface this FALL. This will include avatars, chat rooms. It kind of reminds me a cross-over between SONY’s XMB and the new Windows Media Center. Avatars of course are derived from the Miis. Big difference between Miis and Avatars are the customisability were it will be continously updated.

2. Entire RockBand 2 set list revealed

AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana, Alanis, Linkin Park, Sonic Youth, Bon Jovi, Elvis Costello, These are just some the names coming in to all 84 master-tracks of RockBand 2. We are still awaiting their press-con to feature all their instruments. Oh yeah, XBOX has a head start for the game giving them a month of exclusivity then PS3 coming in close to Christmas time.

1. Microsoft scores big with Final Fantasy 13

Just when you think, XBOX is down and out with the games. Square Enix comes out and announces that FF13 is coming out for the XBOX as well. This marks the 1st time that an FF series will be released simultaneously in multiple platforms. SONY is weeping right now as their 13 exclusivity has gone away. Waaah!!!

SONY and NINTENDO will be firing back with their corresponding press-cons tomorrow.  go JAPAN go!!!
