Gates of Hell

Photo manipulation Gates of Hell

Welcome to the Gates of Hell. These images were inspired from the upcoming game Dante’s Inferno. These are pictures of the Rodin Sculptures at the Stanford Museum in Stanford, CA.  These images were taken in different exposure levels and merging it using Photoshop using the HDR tool. Saturation levels and other tweaks were then used. I added a different skyline to make a more dramatic effect to the image.

Toxic Business Card

Toxic Calling Card

The TOXIC Calling Card was designed for my sister, Joan. She is a Registered Nurse and Site master for PhilippineNursesInfo.com. She wanted me to design a calling card for her to encapsulate her job as a nurse. The adjectives best thrown at the subject were hectic, stressful, toxic. So I encorporated a previous logo design back when she was a nursing student and made it as a logo for a band-aid. I wanted to make it appear as if a band-aid was stuck to the calling card.

JFK vs. CIA site

jfk cia website

The site’s primary purpose is to promote Michael Calder’s book JFK vs.CIA. The site also serves as Michael Calder’s official website exhibitting his talents as a writer. Included in the site are essays about JFK, Sirhan, Celebrities, and other life changing experiences. It also includes ordering information on other products related to Michael Calder’s work such as DVDs, Books, Audio CDs.

When talking to Mike, I was tasked to do two things, make the visitor aware that we are selling the book and make it simple and understandable for the target audience to navigate. The book’s target audience are conspiracy theorist and the older demographic therefore most of them have a limited knowledge about new internet technologies such as animations or graphic images that are so confusing as links.

I made the site by installing the WordPress blog engine first and finding an existing simple theme that encapsulates Michael Calder as a writer. During our meeting, he had given me a lot of handwritten papers about site descriptions, etc. So I thought, a good theme as a starting point would look like a pad paper. So I pretty much found the theme I wanted, it is called “paper 2″ by Amanda Hawkins. I then modified the header image to make it look like it was notes about JFK and his assasination so I incorporated polaroid pictures of the president and different views of the point of assasination.

Eheads Collection: Alkohol

alkohol

“Alkohol, Alkohol. Utak mo’y buhol-buhol. Alkohol. Alkohol. Alkohol.” It translates as ‘Alkohol makes your brain crazy”. This design was inspired by the Eraserheads song of the same name. The song talks about Alkohol and its effects both fun and not so fun.

I love the Eraserheads. They are what made me love music in the first place. This collection is a tribute to them.

De Runa Cooper Nuptials Programs

de runa cooper nuptials

This was a bit of a challenge for me. I was tasked to create the following:

  • Wedding Program
  • Wedding Reception Program
  • Table Number
  • Name Cards for the guests

I made it a goal for all four have a common theme. The bride did not give me a lot to work on. She said to keep it simple and her theme is dark red. As I look at her hair clip which she frequently uses, it reminded me of cherry blossoms. Cherry blossoms in the real world are either white or pink. It’s quite a sight to see one of those trees in full bloom. In order for me to get to the theme colors I wanted, I made the leaves like if it was entering fall. Reddish tones on the leaves quite a sight. It’s pleasant but still catches the eye.  I made use of the branches and carefully placed them on the corners to highlight those empty spaces.

codedMUSHROOM business card

coded mushroom business card

This is a design I came up for my own business cards. I drew inspiration from a store tag of a shirt I bought recently.

The front of the card was designed with the services and skills that I provide displayed and dimmed while highlighting the website itself by coloring it red and white.

The back of the card is pretty much a mash-up of my contact information with different shapes and sizes of the font providing an interconnection in-between info.

Metrowash Business Card

Metrowash Business Card

I was tasked by Metrowash Laundry Systems to create a business card for its proprietor, Gil Arellano. I incorporated designs from their current logo which was had a yellow and blue theme. The proprietor wanted more brightness and to promote with the word “clean” in mind.

The business card was designed using Adobe Photoshop CS2. Themes of Blue, Yellow, and Teal were used based on their current logo. The color Teal was introduce because I felt that Teal is a very clean color, its not to harsh nor too bright.

designed with Love in mind

designed with LOVE in mind

Love can be the strangest of things. It blinds you. Its makes you smile. It makes you lonely. But for whatever reason we define it, I know without it we cannot survive. This illustration piece was driven by love. In my case, this is the love for my wife, my daughter, and my family.

This illustration was also part of a wedding program, I designed for a client getting married in August.

Aurora Borealis experiment

Aurora Borealis Experiment

I have never been to Alaska therefore I have never seen the Aurora Borealis. I heard its one the things you have to see before you die.  This is such a FAIL introduction.

In this entry, I experimented with the Aurora Borealis effect and shadows. I created the moonlight backdraft by painting , blurring, and then blending them with other colors. I created multiple samples such as the Original Aurora (Green and Purple), the Bloody Red variant (red and hint of pink), and the Orange tint (Orange, Yellow, and Purple).

I cropped sample images like Ichigo from Bleach, Peter and MaryJane from Spiderman, and one sample photo I took from my previous photo shoot to create a shadow as if the only light source is the night sky.

COSMOS experiment [UPDATED]

COSMOS experiment

Space the final frontier. I just finshed watching the new STAR TREK movie and loved it. I have never been a Trekkie but I am a fanboy of this new direction the franchise. This project was inspired by the movie and and  the tutorial located here.

I ask the models to pose as if they were emitting powers of their own. Based on the tutorial, I eventually tweaked and played around with the effects to get the desired results. Click on the album below to see the before and afters.

[UPDATE] I added another to the collection. This time I experimented on doing this experiment without the BLACK background. I had a picture of my buddy Will and added a powers to him as if he was playing with it. I think it looks way better in Black and White.
